IELTS® Course Description
This course will help students develop their listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in preparation for the IELTS® test. In this course students will learn test taking strategies to help them reach their IELTS® test score goal.
Students will prepare specially for the listening and speaking modules, as well as the Academic Reading and Writing components. Mini tests will be administered throughout the course to track the students' progress.
This elective course is open to students whose English level is at the equivalent of CEP Level 5 or higher. Students may be required to take the MEPT and/or oral assessment before entering this class.
IELTS® Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Improve their listening, speaking, academic reading and writing skills.
- Develop test-taking strategies specifically for the IELTS® test.
- Improve their IELTS® test scores in all four skills.

IELTS® Course Components
- Class participation: Try your best to come to all your classes and participate in them.
- Quizzes: Your teacher will administer mini-test to track your progress.
- Small projects: Your teacher may give you small individual or group assignments and homework.
Attendance
You are expected to come and participate in class so that you may reach the objectives needed for successful completion of the course. You must maintain a total attendance of 80% or higher. Also, students who arrive to class late will not be allowed into class. If you know you will miss your classes, you must let your instructor and school know. If you want to reschedule an assignment or assessment (for a valid reason) you must talk to your instructor.
Participation
All the teachers in the school are here to help you. Ask your teacher if you have a question, want help or need extra practice. Don't be afraid to take risks or make mistakes. Taking risks and making mistakes can really help you to learn. Your instructor will be checking how much you participate in class.
