STAFF PROFILE
This month, we'd like to introduce you to our 2 interns, Ellee and Natalie. Both girls came to Vancouver from Korea to improve their English skills and get practical job experience for their futures. They started with us in November and have been doing a great job. You can see them at our front desk welcoming visitors to the school and helping students. They also assist us with events and activities around the school, especially Christmas decorations! We are very happy to have them here and appreciate all their hard work.

UPCOMING COURSES
In 2012, check out our new Intensive English Schedule - in addition to our Integrated Skills (IS) and Active Listening (AL) Classes, you will now benefit from taking one of our specialized Elective classes. In the IS class, you will study reading, writing, speaking and listening through a "Communicative Language Teaching" methodology. New grammar patterns are learned in the context of a conversation or a real-life situation. Various activities will allow you to practice natural English conversation, including role plays, and discussions. In our AL Class, you will cover a variety of topics while practicing English conversation management, North American conversational styles, and pronunciation. You will learn commonly-used idioms and slang in a communicative way. Add to this an Elective Class such as Communicative Grammar, IELTS, Writing, Listening & Pronunciation, or TOEIC and you are well on your way to achieving your language learning goals! |

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL
Hi, my name is Miki. I'm from Japan. I've been Vancouver for 7 months. I like Vancouver very much because it's very beautiful city, people are kind and weather is nice for me.I also like GEOS Vancouver, staff and teachers are so nice and helpful. I attended GEOS for 24weeks, I took Super Intensive course and TEC course. I really enjoyed taking these courses. Especially my best memory is TEC course. It was very hard but it was good for me. This course had a lot of presentations so they became good practice for me to work as a teacher. I had great time with classmate and teacher. Now I'm working at elementary school as intern. I join the grade 2 and 3 class. The students are so cute. I have a good time every day with children so I really enjoy working. I think that it's going to be good experience for me.

The teachers at GEOS are really helpful. They are so kind, their explanation is simple, kindness and funny. I wish I learn English from my teachers. Also staffs are so kind. Thank you for helping me in GEOS. I prefered to talk my friends who comes from other countries. And I spent a lot of time with great respectful teachers. I'd like to visit beautiful places in Vancouver, for example Stanly park, Gas town. I went to BBQ with my friends in Summer and then I could make many friends in there. It was the first time to go out with foreign people. I really enjoyed this BBQ. It was great memory this Summer. I went to a nice hockey game and ice skating. The ice hockey game was so exciting and I was really excited. After the game, I became an ice hockey fan. I want to watch many ice hockey games in this Winter season.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
In December, our students were able to take part in a very unique experience while doing something to help those less fortunate. Every year, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) holds an Open-House Day at their studios in downtown Vancouver in support of local food banks. Our students were able to take a tour of the studio, meet on-air personalities, watch live performances and do a little weather forecasting! All of our students were happy to bring a food or cash donation for the Food Bank, which provides groceries at no cost to those in need. It was a great experience for the students, and, who knows, we may have inspired some future news reporters!
