We have a busy month ahead of us with students arriving from all over the world and some fun excursions planned taking us to different parts of the city. Looking towards the late spring and summer, we are very happy to host Young Learner groups from Spain and Vietnam. They’ll be here between 2 and 4 weeks and will study and do excursions in and around Vancouver.

MEET OUR STAFF

Staff Introduction for GEOS ESL Vancouver

We are happy to introduce one of our core teachers, Tomoko Kajiyama. Tomoko has been with us for almost 3 years and keeps busy teaching our Intensive English Program, and our Grammar and Power Speaking elective classes. Tomoko grew up here in beautiful British Columbia, and before coming to GEOS, spent time teaching in Japan. Tomoko is famous for her daily idioms and bringing natural, current English into the classroom. Her classes are full of laughter and energy, as the students work together to improve their English language skills. As you can see from the photo, Tomoko is a huge Vancouver Canucks fan. For those of you who may not know, the Canucks are the professional ice hockey team here in Vancouver. They are currently playing for the biggest prize in hockey, the Stanley Cup. Our Brazilian student, Eric, has also become a Canucks fan since coming to Vancouver. Go Canucks Go!

STAFFING NEWS

We would like to welcome back a very popular instructor, Kiran. She will be teaching classes in our Intensive English Program. We were also very sad to say goodbye to a fantastic teacher, who has been with us for more than nine years! We wish her all the best with her future plans. All of our teachers and staff are ready to welcome all our new students and enjoy the beautiful Vancouver summer!

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL

Student Testimonial and Review of GEOS Vancouver, ESL School

I arrived here when the spring started. The trees have flowers and the streets are so nice!!!!

I fell in love with Vancouver. The people are very educated and help you with all the things you need. The city is so safe and the public transportation is very easy: You can go to all the places by bus or Skytrain and have a lot of beautiful places for you to know.

I was on vacation in Brazil and came to Canada to study English. It was the best experience in my life. My English improved so much and I had a chance to exchange experiences with people from other countries.

My teachers were so patient and I had 4 hours of class every day. I learned grammar, listening and about Canadian lifestyle. If you can, I will come back to Canada!!!
I would like to spend more time here. It’s a great experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Student Activities for GEOS Vancouver School, ESL, Study EnglishTo celebrate the arrival of spring, we all went to one of Vancouver’s prettiest parks, Queen Elizabeth Park. The flowers were spectacular and the views from up on the hill of downtown Vancouver and the mountains were truly nice. Everyone walked a lot, soaked up a little bit of nature and came back with a nice suntan!

The next activity on the schedule was soccer at the local field near Chinatown. We had a nice international mix making it feel like a mini World Cup. Marco represented both Italy and Canada and showed off his amazing bicycle kick!

Other activities include 18-hole Pitch-and-Putt at the beautiful Stanley Park golf course, cycling around the lovely Seawall in Stanley Park, Vancouver Canadians baseball, beach volleyball at English Bay and finally disc golf.
